Patients have never had it so good – the new St. Louis Hospital in Ettelbruck, Luxembourg
Whilst mainly known as a financial location and as the home of the headquarters of a number of renowned European institutions, Luxembourg also has an exemplary healthcare system. This excellence spreads well beyond the country’s capital. In Ettelbruck, about 20 miles North of Luxembourg City, a modern general hospital equipped to the very latest scientific standards has just opened its doors after a construction period of five years.
In his speech made at the official opening ceremony, Luxembourg’s Prime Minister Jean-Claude Juncker stressed the particular role incumbent on the state of helping people in difficult situations. He then went on to say that such a task included adapting hospital infrastructure to meet requirements on an ongoing basis and that the healthcare system needed to keep up with patient needs. He concluded by emphasising the importance of supporting staff in their indefatigable efforts by investing in technologies to deliver time and cost savings.
