Because of the larger spatial capacities and international transport network they have at their disposal, logistics companies are nowadays widely commissioned with the warehousing, stock picking and dispatch of industrial products.
One example of such a company is Rhenus AG & Co. KG, which employs in excess of 3,800 staff and generates an annual turnover of approximately 1 billion euro. Rhenus acts as an added value partner in developing and enhancing the logistical processes of their customers thus enabling them to secure a significant competitive edge.
The company’s Berlin North Logistics centre in Velten has covered warehousing space extending over an area of 38,000 square metres. This provides 48,000 pallet storage spaces for products from household names such as Freudenberg, Daimler-Chrysler, ProMarkt and Schering. Rhenus has been commissioned with the provision of around 12,000 pallet storage spaces for management of the raw material, auxiliary material and product storage for the last named manufacturer. It has a licence to carry out detailed stock picking down to package size for finished medical supplies.
