The temporary deployment of intelligent technology
Major sporting and cultural events enrich the lives of many by delivering unforgettable highlights. They also induce a small number of people to exploit the anonymity which such environments offer. Experience has taught us that mass gatherings attract hooligans, petty criminals and even terrorists. This means that it is important for event organisers to be in possession of the necessary expertise and to maintain a cool head. Such events mostly take place within fenced-off security zones. Entrance is controlled by security staff or by specialist police units. Technical resources are, however, needed more than ever in order to monitor an event effectively and prevent disturbances or incidents.
