Grafenrheinfeld Nuclear Power Station

The 1,345 megawatt Grafenrheinfeld Nuclear Power Station is located two kilometres to the South of Grafenrheinfeld in the Schweinfurt district of Lower Franconia. Over 10 billion kilowatt hours of electricity are generated every year. This covers one sixth of the basic supply for the State of Bavaria. Grafenrheinfeld Nuclear Power Station has been operating commercially for 29 years. The facility, previously operated under the name of “Bayernwerk AG“, was officially commissioned on 17 June 1982. Today, Grafenrheinfeld Nuclear Power Station is one of the locations operated by E.ON Kernkraft GmbH and is 100 percent owned by E.ON AG.

Reliable, proven and modern technologies are deployed to provide the highest level of security of plant operations on an ongoing basis. In Germany, the planning, construction and operation of nuclear facilities are subject to stringent regulations. Plants must, for example, ensure that only authorised persons have access. This is an area where intelligent access control systems are deployed.
